The first phase of the £30 million redevelopment of Thornaby Town Centre has opened following the construction of St Peter’s House and the newly refurbished St Peter’s Square.
St Peter’s House contains larger, modern retail units for existing tenants who have relocated from Appleby House to make way for LIDL, the successful grocery store chain. The new retail block will be home to Barclays, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Keane Tanning and Beauty Salon, Jalz Hairdressing Salon, T.D. Morton Opticians and the Thornaby Post Office.
St Peter’s Square has been attractively repaved and features new street furniture to further transform the look and feel of the Town Centre. The square will be the proud location of Thornaby Market from November 20th and will be further enhanced with a state of the art Market Café, which is scheduled to open before Christmas.
Phase two of the Thornaby Town Centre redevelopment will see the exciting opening of retail block, Vale House, early next year which will create an open air shopping mall opposite Wrightson House. Eighty per cent of new space in this retail block is let to New Look, Peacocks, Card Factory, Home Bargains, and Wilkinson. Exciting new tenants also announced include Grainger Games and Bon Marche.
