Construction has officially started on the extension and redevelopment of Grimsby’s Freshney Place shopping centre, introducing a blend of retail, leisure, and community spaces to revitalise the town centre. The project will be delivered by THP’s Architecture and Interior teams for North-East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) with GMI Construction as Main Contractor.
Smeeden Foreman are providing Landscape Architecture services with HPM supporting the ongoing transformation of Freshney Place in the role of CDM Principal Designer Advisor. To date, demolition work has been undertaken to clear the site with the main build completing in 2027. When complete the development will feature a new five-screen cinema, leisure space, food and beverage outlets as well as a food hall and new market facility.
Daniel Broadhead, Technical Director, commented: “It’s fantastic to see this mixed-use development which forms a cornerstone of NELC’s long-term regeneration vision moving forward into the next construction phase.”
