Derby City Council has approved plans for a new retail and food complex at the site of the former Showcase Cinemas, designed by The Harris Partnership on behalf of Pear Tree Ltd.
The city council has approved the new stores, which will include Greggs, Starbucks and Burger King, noting that the regeneration plans will significantly change the appearance of the local area which Pear Tree described in its application as needed “sooner rather than later”, following the cinema’s closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Residents living near the abandoned former cinema have welcomed plans to transform the site.
