Following acknowledgement from Sutton Borough Councils referral to approve the exciting regeneration scheme in December 2013, the mixed use LXB Properties development in the heart of Sutton High Street has now sought full planning permission from Boris Johnson and the Greater London Authority.
The development includes a new build Sainsbury’s 122,000sqft stilted supermarket, together with 383 surface level car parking spaces. The remainder of the development includes 186no. 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units over 13 storeys, together with 28,000 sqft of ground floor retail and A3 use accommodation.
Lee Brewer, Associate Director at the Harris Partnership commented ‘Developing a complex design regeneration of the key landmark site with strong interest from the Mayor of London and crucial local support has been both an exciting and significant team challenge’.
Procurement on demolition of the Zurich House and part remediation of the site is expected to start in Spring 2014, with works on the Phase I Sainsburys anchor and ground floor retail and residential, together with the new public realm frontage to follow in early 2015.
