The Harris Partnership is behind plans for an Aldi store ‘on stilts’. The store would create up to 50 new jobs, with a public consultation for the plans being backed by more than 70% of local residents.
The new store features a contemporary yet respectful design fitting within the local context, creating a 1,165sqm sales area located at first floor with customer access via lift and stairs or travellator arrangement.
The site also creates 64 customer car parking spaces located at ground floor level via a new vehicular access from Croydon Road.
Iain Church, director at The Harris Partnership, said: “It was a pleasure to design this bespoke store on ‘stilts’ for this constrained site in Caterham. This is an innovative design and continues our long running relationship with Aldi. We are pleased that the community has got behind our cutting-edge designs, and that this store will meet the needs of people in the area.”
