The new Asda supermarket in Broadheath, Altrincham, has opened after more than two years in planning deliberation and one year on site.
Designed and planned by the Manchester office of The Harris Partnership for Property Alliance Group, the 70,000sq ft food store has been built on the site of the former Lyon Industrial Estate on George Richards Way and is the only Asda store in the Altrincham area where it has generated 200 new jobs for the local community.
Plans for the new supermarket were originally submitted early 2013, eventually receiving the green light in August 2014 enabling site preparation works to commence late last year and opening several months ahead of its projected date.
David Evans, Director of The Harris Partnership’s Manchester office says ‘The new store represents a significant investment in Broadheath, bringing a good value foodstore to the local area where it has created hundreds of jobs whilst regenerating an underused site and bringing improvements to local roads.”
