Our work recognised by Wakefield Civic Society / May, 2026

Wakefield Civic Society has recognised our projects within the Wood Street Collection at its latest annual design awards.

The awards which celebrate good architecture in the city started in 1966 with THP’s work on behalf of developer Rushbond recognised in the Residential (6 or more units), and Refurbishment categories.

Commenting on the award win Group Director, Lee Brewer said: “We are thrilled to have our refurbishment and conversion of the former superintendent’s house on Wood Street receive an award. The property which was built in 1898 as the home to the chief superintendent of Wakefield’s police is now back to it’s original use as a city centre home, but one with a unique history.

“It was also fantastic to see our work to convert the old police station into 33 one, two and three-bedroom apartments earn recognition. Transforming the old building with its commanding presence required a lot of effort to restore the fabric of the building, but the result is something special.”
