Clifton Moor, York / January, 2014

We are delighted to report the Clifton Moor retail project at York has just secured planning consent with works expected to start on site early October. The project sees a demolition of the former Wickes unit (relocated) and a new build of 70,000 sq.ft bulky goods retail in the Clifton Moor retail park sector in York. Home to five new bulky goods retailers, including 25,000 sq.ft mezzanine space the project will also see a refurbishment of the adjacent retail terrace, new dedicated signage features.

Architect Oliver Clark comments, ‘Alongside Vector we have been working with our client British Land for many years and we have made future proofing retail parks a forefront of our design philosophy. The project extends from the existing retail terrace, which offered numerous design challenges to overcome including low eaves heights and mansard roof setups. We are confident to have achieved the right balance in terms of meeting York City Council’s planning aspirations whilst also hitting the modern retailer demands and long term flexibility of our client.’
