Harworth Group have secured a resolution to grant planning from North Yorkshire Council to deliver 1.5 million sq ft of industrial and logistics space at the former Gascoigne Wood Colliery.
The plans for the site in Sherburn-in-Elmet, near Junction 42 of A1(M), will see the creation of major rail connected industrial and logistics hub on the 185-acre site, and has the potential to generate up to £190m GDV.
The site will include seven units ranging from 57,000 sq ft to one million sq ft, with works expected to start on site in 2025.
Lynda Shillaw, chief executive at Harworth, said: “Our development at Gascoigne Interchange is another example of Harworth’s unique ability to identify, acquire and transform brownfield sites to generate value, create jobs and increase investment in the region.
“This development complements Harworth’s extensive pipeline of industrial and logistics sites and we continue to see high demand for high-specification strategically connected Grade A industrial space.”
James Richmond at The Harris Partnership, said: “We’re pleased to be able to support Harworth Group with its vision for Gascoigne Wood Colliery and are thrilled that the scheme is moving forward. Our plans will bring the brownfield site back into active use and create a new multi-modal industrial and logistics hub in North Yorkshire, which will not only create jobs but support the economic growth of the region.”
