The Practice is marking the completion of a £15 million Ramada Encore hotel scheme in Gateshead which has just opened its doors. The Wakefield office provided the designs for the entire scheme as well as assisting with the planning application.
The hotel which is owned by Quays Hotels Ltd, is located in an area of the town which has undergone significant regeneration, close to Gateshead Quays. It comprises a ground floor of meeting rooms, a bar/restaurant , gym and on site parking. It boasts a contemporary design which incorporates trespa cladding, white render, a dark grey terracotta tile rainscreen cladding system and silver metal cladding at high level.
This is the fourth hotel project for which we have provided designs and planning application work in the past eighteen months, with a 100-bed Premier Inn in Halifax due to complete in the Autumn.
Michael Schorah comments: “The hotel market is undergoing significant expansion, and we are well positioned to exploit this having designed several hotels in the past couple of years. Our experience in masterplanning city centres has stood us in good stead too, how a hotel fits in with its environment and meets the overall regeneration endeavours of the location is really important. The Ramada Encore hotel is really eye catching, the design treatment is striking and modern and it’s a great complement to an area of Gateshead which has been transformed into a lively hub of commercial and leisure activity.”
