Proposals for a major mixed-use district centre scheme at a former brickworks in Cottam has been given the go-ahead by the Preston City Council. The scheme will include a new Aldi supermarket, 123,000 sq ft of retail and leisure uses, together with 89 new homes. It is expected to create 170 new jobs and generate £41.7m a year in economic output.
The developer on the project is BXB Cottam Properties, working alongside architects The Harris Partnership, planning consultants Nexus Planning and highway engineers Curtins.
Work is now underway to clean and prepare the site, which previously housed Cottam Hall Brickworks, with remediation works commencing very shortly.
