Plans Submitted for English Riviera Residential Masterplan / June, 2019

Our profile in residential development continues to grow apace with a planning submission for the reserved matters application for a major residential scheme at Devonshire Park, Paignton, on the Tor Bay coast in Devon, for our client Devonshire Park Ltd.

The scheme comprises 232 bespoke designed homes including 133 two-bed, 91 three-bed and eight four-bed homes with 23 one, two and three bed apartments. The homes feature a range of modern designs utilising a mixed palette of treated timber, seamed zinc and render materials with extensive public realm include children’s play spaces and community zones to the heart of the scheme that will rejuvenate an old brownfield site on the ‘English Riviera’.

The houses will work with the existing topography on a challenging site characterised by huge level differences descending 21m north to south by being built on tiered plateaus that capture the southern sea views.

Phase two residential works follow initial retail development which is currently on site and represent a true Harris cross office project with the retail scheme for planning being undertaken in Milton Keynes and the retail construction work from our Manchester office, whilst the residential scheme is being managed out of our London office and the Landscaping design from Wakefield office.

Ian Perrell, Design Director at THP London says:  “The submission of the reserved matters application for the residential arm of Devonshire Park is an important milestone in rejuvenating a large brownfield site in Paignton. It will provide modern, high quality living spaces along with a dynamic public realm geared around community.”
