Every so often a project comes along that is truly unique, and this is the case with Goring Alms Houses, a Grade I listed building constructed in 1724 by a philanthropic London lawyer. The Reading office’s work has involved carrying out detailed surveys of the roof to pinpoint the location of every single roof timber so that their condition can be recorded. A listed buildings application has also been submitted for the replacement of the roof and the repair of timbers.
Jon Spires of the Reading office comments: “Obviously Grade I listed buildings are very rare these days so to be working on one of such character and history is very exciting for us.”
